Prologue

After a year fighting our way through a sea of adoption red tape, we are now one week away from our trip. Our Memorial Day weekend will be spent with last minute shopping and packing. Oh, and we're also emptying half our bedrooms so a massive renovation project can be completed while we're gone (because we didn't have enough stress already). Our desire for a master bath has become an imperative at the prospect of going from one to three children in a few short weeks.

Three weeks in Kazakhstan, and the cost of checked luggage is increasing as we speak. One bag has already maxed out its 40 lb limit with children's toys, and the other is pretty close with customary gifts for our facilitators. Looks like we'll each be wearing 10 sets of clothes on the plane.

Excitement grows, but the closer we get to our departure, the harder we know it will be to leave Asher behind. We'll have to keep up with the blog pictures so Grandma can show him what we're up to.
Comments from friends and family will always be welcome.

I am soooo excited for you! Wishing you a wonderful trip! Jason and I will be settled in WH upon your return and ready to take on the role of "aunt" and "uncle." Cannot wait!

Hello Sethy and Blythe! John and I have been thinking about you two and hoping the flight was a good one (especially in all those extra layers!). We've been telling Miles that this Thanksgiving there will be a lot of new kiddos around. Can't wait to hear as things progress. Our love always, hillary

Sounds like you guys are enjoying the lap of luxury. Blythe, that looks like a mighty big toy you have with you. I pray you are surviving on the excitement.

Excitement is brimming here too. As you see, the Mizia's will be here for Thanksgiving, so the kids will get a great, heaping dose of Kaufmania. We're also talking about adding some other family celebration date to the calendar, perhaps starting next summer - location TBA.

Can't wait till you guys get back. As I said at the wedding, I can think of no greater joy than to have this family growing.

I'm not sure whether this will count as bringing family over from the old country, so it might not count for the DKFBA, but I have no doubt Mina is smiling. Mom's got those tears of joy that always tumble and glisten at such big, wonderful events. Dad knows you've done good.

Blythe and Seth, we love you very very much and are tremendously proud of you.

(Susan, there is a fee for Aunt and Uncle privilages in Kaufmania. I'll check the bylaws, but I think it involves us bringing a couple bottles of wine to your place, or the other way around.)

Hi Seth and Blyth,
So great to hear from you and see the progress of your adoption. I am so excited for you and cannot wait until I am at that point in my China adoption. It sounds like you guys have bonded nicely. Love is a universal language and you have all tapped into it obviously.
Take good care of yourselves.

Seth and Blythe...What a wonderful thing to do...adding these two beautiful siblings to your family...you need to publish an article in Baystate Health Connections when you return so everyone can share in your incredible experience.

It is inspirational to watch the daily bonding with your children unfold as if we were all there with you...Thanks for sharing these moments... you have restored my faith in mankind!

I look forward to seeing you cut through any additional red tape and get the children and yourselves home safely to America! I am so impressed, Well done guys!...Cathy
